May 2015 Empties & Pass-A-Longs

Hey guys!  It's been a bit since I shared what products I've been using up, so I thought I'd go ahead and get this out today.  For my "empties" posts I don't hang on to trash and hoard it up (it's simply not in me to do something like that).  Instead, as I use something up I snap a photo of it and then toss it in the trash.  Then, after I get several photos together I go ahead and do a blog post.  It's been 2 or 3 months since I've done one of these, so there's kind of a lot of stuff to mention.  Also, several of the items in this post are not "empties" but are "pass-a-longs"....stuff I bought and didn't care for that I will give to somebody else to use and love.  My mom is usually standing with her arms wide open ready to take anything I decide to throw her way, so I never just throw away any type of product.  Anyways, let's get to it!  We will start off with some candles I have recently used up, then we will move on to some beauty-related empties.

If you've ever smelled this candle before then you already know how good it smells.  I find mine at a store in my hometown, and it runs somewhere around $25.  I like the Candleberry candles, but I really just prefer seasonal Bath and Body Works candles better.

I'll probably buy this again at some point, but for the time being I am fine without it.  The Hot Maple Toddy scent is my favorite.

I really enjoyed this Better Homes and Gardens candle in Exotic Coconut Quince.  My only complaint is that it just wasn't that strong or fragrant.  The light scent that it had was really nice though!

This is one of the Signature Soy candles you can find at Target, and this particular scent Sunkissed was yummy.  I was able to get this on sale at the time, so it was a really affordable candle and it smelled a lot stronger than the Better Homes and Gardens one.  I was really surprised to see how smokey this one burned, especially since it is a soy candle.  Soy candles typically have a really clean burn, but this one did get kind of black.

Now here is a soy candle that definitely burns clean, the Burt's Bees Tropical Mango.  I have burned a couple of these in this scent this year and I always really like it.  My only complaint with this one is how much candle is left in the jar when the wicks quit burning.  I feel like that's just a lot of candle to throw away.  So, I sat this on a candle warmer for a few days and enjoyed the rest of it that way.

(Burt's Bees candles are available at Walmart)
I will definitely purchase this one again!

I really liked this candle by Mainstays (again, found at Walmart) but it was just so smokey and it really didn't have any scent at all once the candle got about half way gone, so I decided to go ahead and chuck it.  It was really cheap and affordable, but the quality really isn't there.  I won't be repurchasing, because I want any candle I buy to be a good one no matter what the price is.

I have used the Neutrogena Body Oil for at least 10 or 15 years and I totally love it.  It's a light sesame oil that I use when I get out of the bath or shower.  As soon as I step out of the water I put my hair up in a towel, then I apply a little bit of this on my entire body (while I am still wet).  Then I towel off like normal and finish with my normal everyday routine.  This leaves your skin soft and hydrated and lotion is totally optional.

I used to have my hair colored at an Aveda salon and I got this sample for free at one of my visits.  It lasted so long, as I only used about 4 drops for my almost waist length hair.  It does make your hair feel super soft without making it greasy.  Would definitely purchase a full size of this once I use up some of the hair oils I already have.

I love drugstore shampoos and conditioners, but this one really didn't do much for me.  When I first used it I thought I would like it because it smelled really nice (literally like a perfume).  But after a few uses I just wasn't impressed.  It wasn't a terrible product, it just didn't do anything special.  Didn't make my hair feel super soft, didn't make it shine, didn't do much of anything.  Probably wouldn't purchase this again.

This little guy, which runs about $3 a bottle, is a homerun winner.  There are several different variations of the Aussie deep conditioners (moist, smooth, shine, strong, etc.) and I love them all.  I basically just use this as an everyday conditioner in the shower.  So affordable and makes your hair feel great.  Love.

Whenever I am at Target I always grab a couple packs of these protein treatments by Palmer's.  They smell soooooo nice and make your hair feel so good.  There is actually a lot of product in these pouches, so each one does me at least 4 or 5 times or so.  They are made with coconut milk, keratin, silk proteins, and vitamin E, and they are sulfate and paraben free.  Super affordable as well, I think one of these pouches is $2 or so.  I will always keep some of these handy.

The Joico K-Pak protein treatments are probably my favorite of all time.  They are what I have used the longest and they just work so well.   This is a salon product so you are going to pay a little more, but Joico makes some of the best hair care ever in my opinion.

My skin is SO prone to blackheads and I really benefit from any type of exfoliation that I can get.  If I am not using my Clarisonic then I definitely prefer a facial scrub as opposed to a creamy wash.  This Yes To Grapefruit one is lovely and I would definitely repurchase.  I don't have a Target really close to me (the closest one is an hour away) and that is where I find this, so I usually end up just buying what I can find.  But, the next time I am at Target I will probably pick another one of these up.

I am constantly getting deluxe size samples of mascaras from Sephora.  I like getting these because I do like to try the different mascaras out there, but sad to say, none of these really knocked my socks off.  All of them did okay, none were what I would say 'bad' mascaras, but none of them wowed me.  I am a total drugstore mascara girl - namely Maybelline's The Rocket.  I know everybody uses mascaras for like 3 months or whatever, I really don't like to do that.  I just like really fresh mascara so I buy a $5 or $6 one from the drugstore, use it all I want, then buy me a new one when that one doesn't work as well.  I tried these a couple of times each and then passed them on to my mom.  She really liked the Too Faced one the best.

I can't even remember where I got this Pur waterproof mascara.  A free gift with purchase maybe?  I don't use waterproof mascara ever (it's way too hard to get off), so I never even took this out of the box! I passed it along to my aunt who does enjoy waterproof mascara.

If I had to pick a brand that had the best mascaras at the drugstore, I would definitely pick Maybelline.  Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand as a whole, but their mascaras are some of the best I have ever in my life tried.  The Lash Sensational is good, not as good as The Rocket I don't think, but it was good.  I am pretty much sticking with The Rocket until I find something that beats it.

I love BBW body stuff, especially their body creams.  I used this particular one through the Winter months and was sad to see it go!  I will always have products like this in my arsenal.
(Piper says hi!!!!)

I got this deluxe size sample of Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate from Sephora.  I really liked this product, it felt really moisturizing on my eye area.  I really liked how it totally absorbed, so wearing it under makeup was ideal.  I have so many skincare products right now, so I am not buying much till I go through some of what I have.  After that I would totally be up for buying a full-size of this product.

I am pretty sure this sample set of shampoo and conditioner came from Ulta.  I hadn't ever used a shampoo quite like this - it was literally an oil.  You literally wash your hair with an oil.  If you follow my blog at all then you know I love really soapy, bubbly products both in my hair and on my skin, so when I seen this I was sure I would hate it.  It did not foam up AT ALL, there was no sort of lather.  When water hit it I did notice it turned slightly milky, but there were no suds to speak of.  When I rinsed my hair I was surprised it felt as clean as it did, this really did perform quite nicely.  Conditioner felt good, and afterwards my hair basically looked like it always does.  Not sure I would ever buy this, but it did work well, lol.

Now here is a conditioner that rocks!  I LOOOOOOVEEEE both the shampoo and the conditioner from the Total Repair EXTREME line.  I remember trying the Total Repair 5 ones before and being really underwhelmed, but the EXTREME line is sooooo good.  The conditioner is super thick and moisturizing and it leaves my hair so soft.  Of course will be repurchasing.

I buy these things alllllllll the time.  If you get any just make sure you are getting the ULTRA DEEP cleansing ones.  I'm always left in amazement at how well these perform.

Love me a good hand cream, and I have always enjoyed Soap & Glory's Hand Food.  I wasn't paying attention and I accidentally got the Sugar Crush scent which is that citrus-y scent they have in a lot of their products.  I used to work for a gastroenterologist and that scent just reminds me of mag citrate.  Ugh.  I hate that smell.  The hand cream felt great, I just don't care for that scent in any of their products.  LOVE their smoothie/buttercream scent.

My favorite hairspray everrrrrrrrr.  I'm not much of a hairspray gal, but after I curl and fix my hair I do like a small mist of something to kind of hold my style.  The Tres Two hairspray from TreSemme is just the best.  It holds your curls but doesn't feel crunchy, it's cheap and easy to find, loveeeee.  I already have 2 backups of this, lol.  (Just make sure you're getting the Extra Firm Control Tres Two spray, NOT the Ultra Fine).

And here we have another Aussie 3 Minute Miracle!  This one is the Smooth one and I love it the same as I do the Moist.  I really can't tell a difference in any of the formulas, they all basically feel the same in my hair.  I really do love these!

Quite possibly the world's worst dry shampoo.  This somehow made my hair even more greasy?  I know there's people that swear by this stuff, it's just NOT for me.

I really do like the Pssssst! dry shampoo though!  My favorite dry shampoo ever is the Batiste one in the Blush scent.  Next to that one, as far as drugstore ones go, I would probably say Dove and then the Pssssst!  Almost all dry shampoos leave a white cast in my hair.  I don't see why that's a big deal to anyone, all I do is give it a couple of minutes to soak up the oil, turn my head over and vigorously massage the product into my scalp.  When I raise back up all the white is gone and my hair is no longer oily.  No biggie.

This glycolic serum by Anthony really felt nice on my skin.

The sample was really generously sized, so I used it for 3 or 4 days.  I mean I couldn't really see that it done anything, but it felt nice on my skin and didn't make me oily.  Not sure if I would purchase this, again, I have so many skincare products to use up so I am not in the market for any new products right now.

Anytime I place an order, if there is an ExfoliKate sample, best believe I am getting it.  I would use my very last loyalty points at Sephora to get this, I like it that much, lol.  I have never purchased it, I somehow always manage to have a few samples of this at any given time.  I think I only have one more in my stash, so after that I think I will pick me up a bottle.  If you have never used this product, it's this really unflattering green stuff that smells incredible.  Almost like a food?  Anyways you massage it on your face for about 30 seconds and then you let it sit for a couple of minutes.  When you rinse it off your face feels like a baby's butt.  LOVE.

I have recently been purchasing new foundation primers, so I decided to yet again weed out some of the ones I just don't use.  Don't get me wrong, I really liked all 3 of these, but there are things I have found that I like better and that I find myself reaching for.  I no longer feel the need to hang on to products just to say I own them.  I want my vanity area full of my very favorite stuff, and with only what I want to use.  It was time to pass these along to others who will use them.  I haven't been using gel eyeliners a lot in the last few months, so I went ahead and tossed this one and picked up a fresh one.  I am more particular about using fresh stuff that goes so close to my actual eyeball, lol.

I tried my best to love the Rimmel Provocalips, but I just don't.  This type of lip product has never really worked for me.  One end is basically this 'paint' type product that you swipe on and let it dry, then the other end is a clear gloss type product that you wear as a top coat.  I have never been able to wear these types of products because I can feel them sitting on top of my lips and they aggravate me to death.  Will be passing this along as well.

I LOVE me some orange makeup, and I had such high hopes for this.  As I mentioned above, Maybelline is my favorite drugstore makeup, but I really don't like this product.  It's the taste and the smell, they are just too overpowering.  I'm generally not someone who is super sensitive to that kind of thing, but there are products here and there that I just can't do and this is one of them.  So sad!  This is so pretty!

Here is the Smoothie buttercream scent I was referring to above!  This body butter smells exquisite and I just love it.  Sephora is no longer partnered with Soap & Glory which is so unfortunate.  This is by far my favorite thing from the brand!  I'm not sure where else this brand is sold, but I would definitely be interested in owning a tub of this.

Loved this serum from Dior!  Serums are so good for your skin, they sink right in without making you greasy and I just love them. This one felt great and the deluxe sample size lasted for over a month.

I love this alpha hydroxy face cream from Walgreens. Unfortunately, I let it set for too long on the shelf without using it. When I went to use it the other day I noticed it looked a little funny and it smelled terrible.  I should have been using it, and instead I let it set so long it expired. That's one sure sign you have too many products when they go bad before you can use them.

I know this is not an actual 'empty' but I thought I would show them anyway.  These are my Sephora earbuds that kind of just quit working.  Well, one earbud quit working.  You can still hear out of one of them, which is super annoying!  I had these for probably 2-3 years and I got them for free, so I cannot complain.  They did me well while I had them, but sorry to say they bit the dust.  They do have them on their website right now as a 250pt. perk if you are interested!

Whew.  That's it for now guys!  Hopefully my mini reviews of some of these products steer you in the right direction if you are in the market for trying new stuff out.  Just remember, things that work for me might not necessarily work for you and vice versa.  Just because I don't care for something doesn't mean you won't, so always take reviews with a grain of salt.  Opinions are subjective and you never know how you're gonna like something till you try it!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!
