Rebecca Minkoff 5 Zip MAC

Hey guys!  Today I wanted to share with you my newest bag I just picked up!  It's the Rebecca Minkoff Full Size 5 Zip Rocker in the color Denim.

First off I need to mention, this bag is no longer in production.  If you go to the RM site you will see that the only version of this that is now available is the Mini 5 Zip.

So you can compare the Mini 5 Zip and the Full Size 5 Zip Rocker that I have, we will start with the measurements.  

Mini 5 Zip:

9" wide x 1.5" deep x 6.5" tall

Full Size 5 Zip Rocker:

11" wide x 2 1/2" deep x 8" tall

I was able to find this bag new with tags from a very reputable seller on eBay!

The dust bag is huge!

The true color of the bag did not come across accurately in some of these photos.  The ones on the white bedding is not true at all, it looks darker and more purple than it really is.

Other than size, another difference in my bag and the Mini 5 Zip is the leather strip that is woven in the strap.  The bag now is just metal, no leather.

And even though the bag is still called the '5 Zip', the newer version only has 4 zips on it.  Mine has the 5th zip on the back of the bag.  I can't believe they done away with this zip pocket, as it is going to be so useful.

Both bags have the feet on the bottom.

The one good thing about the Mini 5 Zip is it's cheaper in price.  The bag I have is so much larger, has the fully functional 5 Zips (which are actual pockets unlike the newer version) and it has the leather on the strap, all making it much more $$$.  This bag retails for $330.

From what I understand the Mini 5 Zip has zippers just for looks, they are no longer pockets which is so sad!  These pockets on mine are deep and will be so handy!

I think the back pocket is a total necessity, I can't believe they done away with it in the newer style.  I'm really thankful that mine has it.

Inside of this bag you have 2 deep slide pockets and 1 large zip pocket.  Matching twill lining to the dust bag.

The only other Rebecca Minkoff bag that I have to compare with is the Mini M.A.B. Tote (which I totally LOVE).

Dust bag size difference, h-e-l-l-o.

For size comparison the Mini M.A.B. Tote is 7"H x 8"W x 3.25"D. The tote is made of a gorgeous saffiano leather, whereas the 5 Zip Rocker is a slicker/shinier leather.  I love the look and feel of both of these but I actually probably prefer the 5 Zip.  It's just a really substantial, heavy bag.  Not too heavy, but super sturdy and nice.

The 5 Zip Rocker will hold SO much more.

Big price difference, for good reason.  The Full Size 5 Zip is a much larger bag.

To give you an idea how much each bag holds, I will show you inside of each with a RM zip around wallet.

This adorable little bag easily holds the wallet and has some room for extra stuff (cell phone, sunglasses, etc.).

The 5 Zip Rocker has tons of extra room.  You could easily throw in an iPad mini, sunglasses (in a case), cellphone, cosmetic bag, etc.  I will now show me wearing the bags for size comparison.

Long strap over one shoulder.

As a crossbody.

As with the Mini 5 Zip, this bag has a 21" drop or 14" doubled.  You just slide the chain through and attach it as shown in pic below to wear as a shoulder bag.  This is probably going to be my favorite way to wear this.

Hope you guys found this helpful!  These full-size 5 Zips are available on eBay every now and then.  I highly, highly, highly recommend keeping an eye out for them.  They hold so much more than the Mini 5 Zip and are so much more useful with all the fully-functional pockets and so forth.  This bag is super popular (for good reason) and I cannot wait to start carrying it!  (Although I bought it for the Spring and Summer months, with this color you could totally use it year round).  Let me know your thoughts on the older full-size version vs. the newer smaller version.  Thanks for stopping by guys!  Muuuahhhh!
